GARDEN ROOMS:

Always my favourite place to sit with a cup of coffee in the mornings before the kids get up!

Really looking forward to rolling back the bi-folds, unpacking the furniture extending the living space out to the garden!

We have plans to pimp-up the decking with some tropical type planting in troughs to flank the edges. It’ll help zone the area a bit more.

TEEN SNUG:

We’ve designed a few snugs from tweenies to teens. They need to be a space they can grow into! And of course there’s a huge TV hidden on the other side on a very cool 1940 Nathan unit originally sourced from @mustardvintage. They can’t escape the odd vintage piece, not in our house anyway!

The mural @hoviaofficial wraps round all four walls, it adds a neutral cool backdrop to this simple design.

DRESSING ROOM: JAPANESE

I sourced these doors before designing the dressing room joinery, they were rescued from an hotel and they’re lined with Japanese Shoji paper. I love the simplicity of them.

We kept the internals pretty simple with open shoe storage & peppered with some natural baskets from @zarahome. It makes good use of the skeiling space.

A LITTLE WFH CORNER: VINTAGE & NEW

Nothing like a 1940’s vintage desk & original Eames office chair to inspire your day!

Other vintage items here include - angle-poise lamp, Moroccan rug, burr wood mirrors & curved art-deco sofa. And of course the reclaimed Victorian internal doors, which were given a new lease of life by our master joiner!

This showcases our signature style of mixing new and old, along with bespoke and artisan finds. Creating spaces with bags of personality is something we’re known for!

Love a bit of colour contrast from one room to another. Here’s a good example from pale to punchy tones. Using @littlegreenepaintcompany Stock 37 in the kitchen. @farrowandball Citron in the passageway & @paintandpaperlibrary Jaipur Pink in the garden room.

Meanwhile, it’s a tale of two halves weather-wise on the Thanet coast. So spent the morning working then a bit of shopping in Deal. Tomorrow, off to Ramsgate & maybe Folkestone for a bit of sight-seeing in the avro.

…sometimes its the best room in the house to escape for a bit of peace and quiet during the holidays!

In fact, any place where you create warm colours and textures then layer up the lighting will be like a warm hug of a space! What’s your favourite place to chill in your home?

About this week: working from Deal so I can do a bit of work / play with the youngest on hols. And we can’t wait to start the next phase of our Barn conversion project, which includes a couple bathrooms that need to be transformed into mini sanctuaries too.

For us, it’ll be a weekend of dog-walks and Easter egg hunts and just hanging out with the kids in this space. That’s if we’re allowed to join! Actually, doubtful they’ll agree to the dog-walks either TBH!

So in other words…the kids will be hibernating here with Splodge 🐶eating chocolate pretty much most of the weekend!

BESPOKE BATHROOMS:

One from the recent photoshoot!

Never one to conform to the norm, loved mixing textures of original brick & @bauwerkcolour paint along with encaustic tiles.

The vanity unit was bespoked from an old Victorian Duchess table. In fact, most items sourced as vintage from circa 1850’s art-deco to retro era. The eclectic mix makes for a distinctive style that’s unique -it’s what we’re known for.

No blue-print designs created here!

BATHROOMS:

I’m currently designing five bathrooms across two houses at the moment. Each style different to suit the client’s personality and each room differs to suit practical needs. So rather apt to showcase one I ‘designed earlier’. This was the master ensuite, one of four bathrooms throughout the house.

I’ll share an ideas board over on Stories for our clients master ensuite & family bathroom which I plan to go over with them tomorrow. It’s always a good starting point in narrowing the brief post their initial consultation.

DRESSING RM: SPRING INSPO

I’ve been creating a concept for a split level master bedroom & dressing Rm today. They’ve had their garden designed by the amazing @karenmccluregardendesign so they want a design that extends their view out and incorporates similar colours and materials.

For a different client last year, we designed this bespoke dressing room. The scheme for the whole house originated from the garden planting palette!

We maximised the space in this dressing room with floor to ceiling bespoke wardrobes with linen insert panels & a subtle mural @sianzeng

Definitely feels like Spring is in the air with the lighter mornings and evenings! Reminded me of this space we designed last year.

With view of spring blooms in their garden and a palette that brings pure joy, it’s the perfect space to sit and chill early eve and sunny weekends.

Your kitchen is the heart of your home, it has to work from day to eve, both practically for busy family dinners & aesthetically for entertaining.

Using a restricted palette on this modern shaker, by painting the same colour on joinery & walls helps make this space feel serene even in the day.

And the lighting was layered and played a huge part in achieving a warm entertaining space in the evening (swipe left).
